To put my work calendar entries onto my iphone involves the cumbersome process of exporting my calendar to a csv file and e-mailing it to my personnal e-mail address, then downloading to my home PC and then importing into the outlook running on my home pc. The new shared calendar should accept new appointments and sync them to all devices, but it won't have the appointments from your old broken shared calendar. Confirm Problem You can confirm that syncing is broken for a shared calendar by doing the following: log into your iCloud calendar using a non-mobile browser find the appointment that is not syncing change the appointment from a shared calendar to a non-shared calendar If the appointment shows up on your iOS device when you change it to a non-shared calendar, then that entire shared calendar might not be syncing to iOS devices anymore

As I said in the article, Apple need to be more clear about this distinction in their general descriptions of iCloud, rather than burying this information in support articles. Between this article and me working through the gadgets, it seems to me that icloud and all those former me.com emails are only going to work on apple hardware

iCloud Mail settings in Snow Leopard
You may be able to set up calendar syncing on Snow Leopard by means of an unsupported hack, and there is a convoluted hack which has been reported as working for Address Book (and reported as not working by others - I've not tried it), but these will not work on Leopard; and neither can access any of iCloud's other facilities. If you are setting up an existing iCloud account on a pre-Lion Mac you will probably need to set up your email to the new iCloud server settings manually in any email application - this tutorial shows you how to enter your iCloud account settings in Apple Mail on Snow Leopard - the method for Leopard is basically the same

Once you have configured iCloud, you can also visit iCloud.com to use the webapps, accessing Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find My iPhone and Find My Mac, and iWork online
