Since AppleCare is both the name of something that can be purchased as well as the general term for them providing the service, I should have clarified. In July I had gone out to lunch on a weekend and put my MBP to sleep, when I came home a few hours later I could not get anything to display on it - no matter what I did

Apple unveiled the upcoming revisions in June at its annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference and said it would release public betas of both OSes this month.Apple's goal with public betas is to give users a chance to preview what's coming and to submit feedback prior to the final releases expected this fall. Which may be why the company is making available a public beta of its next major update to OS X, named El Capitan, in anticipation of its final release this fall

Finder looks RIDICULOUS! Took me a month to figure our a way to hack it back to SL style with colored icons to I can see what the heck I am doing without taking 10 minutes to read everything in the sidebar. So Much More Yet To Come Though in the past operating system upgrades have resulted in long periods of broken software, it seems that developers have really gotten on board with Lion and many applications are already updated to support it, with cool new features like Versions being utilized

If you register for the OS X Beta Seed Program you will be able to download test versions of the software, and give feedback to Apple to help the company perfect the update before it's released to the public in the autumn. Get access to the Mac App Store If you are still running Leopard and don't have access to the Mac App Store you really really really need to upgrade! The next version of OS X will be available only via the Mac App Store and the Mac App Store arrived in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

MBR trick" under "VMware Guest Configs" above if you install the darwin.iso tools the resolution does get a nice little bump from 1024x768 to 1920x1080... I'm very grateful those guys came up with any workaround because otherwise not able to write to the physical drive is a show stopper :) Tying a VM to a physical disk like a peppy SSD just seems like such a natural thing to do it's kinda amazing VMware hasn't gotten slammed into addressing this issue over the years of upgrades

Unfortunately for us designers, thats very difficult as we don't have really well working prepress software for Linux available (Gimp has no CMYK working mode, for example). (At this point it is important to know that with the Sandy-Bridge CPU, you have to startup always from iBoot until you made the update to 10.6.8 which then supports Sandy Bridge)

And since ML is only available through the App Store, it makes sense that all OS X upgrades come through there as well, downloading automatically for your installing pleasure. By default, your system is set up to only accept downloads directly from the App Store or identified developers -- a fact that leads to dialog boxes such as this one: This can all be adjusted by making your way into the Security and Privacy pane in System Preferences, where you can ratchet up the security (allow applications downloaded from Mac App Store) or pare it down (allow applications downloaded from anywhere)

For example, it's a good idea to read through any important text before you send it off, but it's easy to skip mistakes when you're reading your own work. Record your iPhone or iPad's screen With Yosemite, you can now record whatever happens on the screen of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, which isn't just useful for developers to show off the apps and games they build, but can also be great for things like creating little tutorials or even just recording a bug so you can help a developer or a company fix it.To use this feature, you just connect your iOS device up to your Mac using its cable, then launch QuickTime Player

Everything works about the same as it does on iOS, but some extra features will come in handy for getting directions before you leave your computer. Now, you can find locations on Maps on your Mac, then sync directions with your other devices, and -- just like the iOS version -- its driving times account for traffic. The Bottom Line As it's a free upgrade that gives you more apps, improved features across the board, and better performance, there is really no reason not to get Mavericks on your Mac
