Crawling into the past by Siebevanwijk Updated Jul 10, 2012 Helpfulness We visit Cu Chi tunnel enroute to Mekong Lodge in Cai Be, Mekong Delta. We board the speed boat ,a short interesting journey across the Mekong river to an island delta of the Mekong ,created by deposit materials brought by the river.Took off at the island's pier ,walked a bit to the center of the island.Along the way again we saw souvenir shops.Then we arrived to a some kind of Hut,in here, we sampled snacks , sweets and tea ,made by the settlers of the island ,in form of the coconut products and candy

Easy to catch a number 2 bus to get downtown although we did walk a few times when moderately cooler.Taxis are about one dollar a kilometre so the fare... We were greeted with a nice cool drink which was great as we weren't used to the heat and humidity if Vietnam yet! We stayed in a private room which was really nice and clean, Breakfast was great (particularly the passionfruit drink).
