Lodge Logic 12-Inch Cast Iron Pan Review - CHOW.com

In 2002, Lodge introduced Logic, a line of cookware preseasoned in the factory: Pans are sprayed with a soy-based vegetable oil and baked at a high temperature. We did have to fry our chicken legs in a few batches (despite this being a large pan), but we found we didn't have to mess with the burner dial to keep the oil at a constant temperature

I gently soak in soapy water to clean, pat dry, coat inside with small amount of oil and place in 350 degree oven for a few minutes to dry the outside well to keep from rusting. The second time I used it and washed it - I thought there were still left-over food stuck at the bottom and sides because it looked rusty, so I washed it again..

But best of all, a properly seasoned cast iron skillet or dutch oven will sear, bake, or stew, without sticking, better than aluminum, copper, or stainless at a fraction of the cost, and will last a lifetime without incurring a scratch nor a dent. - Greenbelt, MD I just wanted to take the time out to give your company a wonderful "Thank You and Great Job" ! Their directions for cleaning were the same as how my mother told me to clean her iron skillet 30+ years ago; use hot water only with a plastic brush after it has cooled; no soap, no dishwasher, no S.O.S. I would suggest frying fish in a cast iron dutch oven or a deep cast iron skillet (without ribs) like the Chicken fryer (which is awsome for frying chicken or fish or country fried steak and deep frying in general

Basic cast iron is almost ridiculously inexpensive compared to most other cooking materials; enamelled is a bit pricier, but many people consider one or more enamelled cast-iron pots to be an absolute necessity in every kitchen. A properly seasoned cast-iron skillet (we'll discuss "seasoning" in a moment) is felt by most cooks to be better than any of the modern "non-stick" coated cookware items at allowing, well, "non-stick" cooking

I highly recommend, and Walmart brings this to us at a fraction of the cost! Was this review helpful? Yes (41) No (2) Report Thank you! You have successfully submitted feedback for this review. Cast iron cooks differently than Teflon, so take a little time to learn the techniques (lower heat is needed with cast iron, I over cooked a few things in the beginning)
