PINK FLOYD P-U-L-S-E reviews and MP3

A switch that I believe was made that made the most dramatic moment of the song twice as effective: I cannot tell for sure, but it almost seems as if that dinky prop plane was replaced with a massive jumbo jet. Since then I have heard these two studio albums as well, and they are among my favourite Pink Floyd albums for sure, but the live versions of these songs as presented on PULSE are better than on their respective studio albums

As for 'Have A Cigar' that's sung by Roy Harper because Dave didn't want to sing it since he didn't like the lyrics (he had a point, too), it's probably okay by any average band standards, but consider it a Pink Floyd highlight? It's just a mid-tempo bluesy tune with nothing that stands out - just your standard rhythm, drums and singing. Overall, I must say that even if the album does have its poor sides (which is inevitable - what could you expect from a late Sixties experimental album in the hands of such a band as Pink), one has only to consider the guts and the nuts in order to appreciate it

In fact, since it combines hammer-ons, pick-offs, slides and bends, I probably should have used it as the showcase example in my old column, Tricks of the Trade. More importantly, I hope that you begin to get a feel that, with practice, patience and persistence, you can play things that you may have only yesterday thought to be beyond your abilities

David Gilmour remains one of the absolute masters of the electric guitar, with a pristine clean sound, impeccable bends and an extremely tasteful phrasing

PINK FLOYD Wish You Were Here reviews and MP3

"Wish You Were Here" isn't only one of the most representative latter half of the seventies memorabilia, it is indeed the kind of recording that separates lasciviousness from idleness; it tells apart musical contemporaneity from old-fashioned formulas reinvented over and over again; and most importantly, it drives the way to endless comfort and enjoyment. Closing the album we found the continuation of the opening song and with the same name, shine on you crazy diamond, second part, maybe the darkest of the two, the less recognized but similarly beautiful, with the same escene, and the same depth of the first part, what a better way of finishing a masterpiece, that with a masterpiece
