I have a small lump on my neck, what do you think it is?

It hasn't grown in size at all but I'm wondering if I should be concerned about it.I don't think it's a lymph node from looking at some diagrams of where the neck lymph nodes are located. Then the usual things - look in the mouth and nose and eyes and ears, listen to lungs and heart, and if he's thorough, check out your testicles for any lumps, etc.If there is any question, some fairly simple blood tests like a CBC (blood count) and sed rate, and some some chemistries that include LDH and uric acid, can reassure that this is not associated with an illness like lymphoma or leukemia

  http://www.wisegeek.org/why-do-lymph-nodes-become-swollen.htm
I'm not very good at explaining this, but I'll try my best. So, I have been feeling a bump about half an inch below my left ear (straight down from where you put an earring on) and kind of between my jaw (see I'm very bad at explaining but hope you understand), and every time i touch it i feel pain. Just from what you read the symptoms, the way it started out and all that is going on now, does this sound more like cancer to you or very severe infection? And please note my mouth is most likely full of bacteria! I really can't wait to hear from you

Mine took a long time because to get at the tumor that was in lymph nodes, they had to cut muscle and nerves, not sure if that is what most people go thru. I'm sure it's still considered the "standard" procedure and per the current text book on how to treat melanoma but there are some beginning to question the benefits vs

He had to see a ENT for the Lymph nodes in his neck and he said that he needs to remove the one in his neck for testing, so we had an appointment in 2 days for surgery. Where Are the Lymph Nodes Located in a Male? These might become swollen because of viruses such as chicken pox and HIV or cancers such as lung or breast. They can help prevent cancers through immunological attack; however, they are often also responsible for spreading cancerous cells as the lymph fluid is returned back to collecting ducts such as the thoracic duct. I have had swollen glands a lot in the past, since having glandualr fever as a teenager, but they only came to stay with my latest relapse a few years ago. Sometimes I noticed the swelling just in my neck and in other times it was all over my body (behind knees, groin area, arpits, etc.) Usually, it would last a few weeks to a few months and then it would go away---then I had a really bad episode witch included the swollen lymph nodes, alot of mucus from lungs and sinuses, fever and vomitting

Hi thereI went back to a Private Doctor today as I have not been able to relax about this and she has been able to feel two nodes in my left armpit and one in the right. She said that she wants to get them ultrasounded just to make sure.Does this mean that she definitely thinks that I have got some form of malignancy? Why else would she be able to feel armpit lymph nodes as well as several shotty nodes around. Just explain that you are extremely worried about this and would like to know for sure what it is so that you can forget about and go on with your life
